Job Title: Assistant Manager – Quality (Gravure & Offset Printing)

Department: Quality Assurance & Control
Location: Dadra, Dadra & Nagar Haveli
Reports to: Quality Manager
Experience Required: Minimum 5-6 years in Quality Assurance in the Printing & Packaging Industry (Gravure & Offset)

As we continue to strengthen our commitment to quality, process excellence, and customer satisfaction, we are looking for a technically sound Assistant Manager – Quality to oversee and enhance our quality control systems, defect analysis, and compliance measures.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control & Inspection
  • Oversee the quality inspection of raw materials (Inks, Adhesives, Substrates, Boards, Cores, Laminates, and Films) to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
  • Conduct in-process and post-production quality checks to validate:
    • Print clarity, dot sharpness, and registration accuracy.
    • Color matching using spectrophotometers and density measurement tools.
    • Adhesion strength, rub resistance, and coating consistency in laminates & printed substrates.
  • Implement AQL (Acceptance Quality Limit) methods to ensure defect-free production.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for quality control.

 

  1. Process Quality Assurance in Printing

Gravure Printing:

  • Approve cylinder engravings for uniformity and ink transfer consistency.
  • Monitor ink viscosity, solvent retention, drying efficiency, and trapping.
  • Verify substrate compatibility for multi-layer laminates and flexible packaging applications.

 

Offset Printing:

  • Ensure water-ink balance, dot gain control, and accurate registration.
  • Inspect plate quality, blanket condition, and pressure settings.
  • Validate coating thickness, gloss levels, and surface tension properties.

 

  1. Defect Analysis & Root Cause Identification
  • Identify, classify, and document defects such as color variation, pinholes, smudging, misregistration, and coating inconsistencies.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using:
    • 5 Whys Analysis
    • Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram
    • Pareto Analysis
  • Implement Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) in collaboration with production teams.
  1. Testing & Quality Validation
  • Conduct GSM, Caliper, Stiffness, and Cobb value tests for material compliance.
  • Use spectrophotometers, densitometers, gloss meters, and COF (Coefficient of Friction) testers to validate print quality.
  • Ensure compliance with barrier property requirements for packaging materials.
  • Oversee the execution of ink adhesion, scuff resistance, and heat seal strength tests.

 

  1. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain records of quality audits, material approvals, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Develop customer complaint reports, rejection analysis summaries, and improvement plans.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, BRC Packaging, HACCP, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer audits, internal audits, and third-party regulatory inspections.

 

  1. Customer Complaint Management
  • Investigate customer complaints by tracing production batches and reviewing quality logs.
  • Analyze customer feedback trends and implement corrective actions to enhance satisfaction.
  • Work closely with design, production, and procurement teams to resolve recurring quality concerns.

 

  1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Drive Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing initiatives for process improvement.
  • Work on automated quality control systems and vision inspection technologies.
  • Lead supplier quality improvement projects to enhance incoming material consistency.

 

  1. Team Training & Development
    • Conduct technical training sessions on quality standards, defect analysis, and problem-solving tools.
    • Mentor QC inspectors and operators on best practices in Gravure & Offset Printing quality control.
    • Promote a culture of quality ownership and process standardization.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • B.Tech / B.E. / Diploma in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, or related fields.
  • Additional certification in ISO Auditing, Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred), or Quality Management Systems (QMS) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 5-6 years of hands-on experience in Quality Assurance in Gravure & Offset Printing.
  • Expertise in flexible packaging, cartons, laminates, and label printing processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of printing inks, coatings, and lamination adhesives.
  • Hands-on experience with quality control instruments (Densitometers, Spectrophotometers, Gloss Meters, COF testers).
  • Proficiency in using RCA tools, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, BRC, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory compliance for packaging materials.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

  1. Account Management
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, addressing their needs, resolving issues, and ensuring seamless coordination with internal teams.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with clients to assess their evolving needs and propose customized solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional products and services to maximize revenue from existing accounts.
  • Work closely with operations, production, and design teams to ensure timely execution and delivery of client projects.
  • Ensure all client activities, transactions, and updates are accurately recorded in the CRM system.

  • Identify and engage potential clients through networking, industry events, cold outreach, and referrals.
  • Develop and execute targeted lead generation strategies to expand the client base.
  • Conduct market research to analyze competitor activities, industry trends, and emerging opportunities.
  • Prepare and present business proposals, product pitches, and pricing strategies to prospective clients.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to secure new business while ensuring profitability.
  • Track and report sales performance, market trends, and business development efforts to senior management.

 

  1. Strategic Planning
  • Develop and implement business development strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize key target markets for expansion, both geographically and sector-wise.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to set quarterly and annual sales targets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Analyze market conditions and customer behavior to adapt sales strategies accordingly.

 

  1. Cross-Selling & Expansion
  • Conduct thorough competitor analysis to identify market gaps and differentiate our offerings.
  • Work with the marketing team to research similar products, identifying customer pain points and refining product offerings.
  • Proactively identify and develop new service offerings that complement existing solutions and meet evolving customer demands.
  • Recommend bundled product offerings to enhance customer retention and revenue growth.

 

  1. Performance Analysis & Reporting
  • Track and analyze business development performance metrics to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on sales performance, client engagement, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Assess the effectiveness of sales campaigns and outreach strategies, making data-driven adjustments where necessary.
  • Utilize tools and analytics software to gain insights into client behavior, sales cycles, and conversion rates.

 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in sales and account management, preferably in the printing and packaging industry or a related B2B sector.
